For those of you too young to have seen the Ramones live, this is the closest representation I've found thus far of what it was like to be at a Ramones show. You were just blasted with song after song, no time to take a breath between dancing your ass off and having the time of your life! Its a bit long, so watch when you're bored, you'll be bopping around in no time!
This had to have been filmed a bit later, as I recall seeing them in the early CBGB days, they would just stop and start fighting over something on stage, then get back to it. Pretty funny actually!
BTW, this was filmed for Don Kirchner's Rock Concert, a series of concerts every week where he would introduce new acts, as well as feature more established bands. Happy times watching and developing a taste for the varied music of the 70s before I was too young to hit the clubs (okay I started sneaking in very early, so we're talking real young.) We got exposed to so much fantastic music, definitely helping to shape my snobbish (I prefer highly honed) musical tastes today!
Thursday we were in the city for a lovely late lunch with a dear friend and then went out to stock up on hair dye. More pink for me to play with, a lovely new shade called "Cleo Rose" (who is actually someone we know (a total character who was in the entrtainmnt biz in the 60s.) Manic Panic now makes a new one called Manic Mixer/Pastel-izer, so you can make any of their colours into pastel shades. I was told the designer Chris Benz and I are the first to have it in our grubby little hands, so of course I will be playing with it this weekend! While there, I noticed this fantastic poster of Joey that since I was planning on posting this piece this weekend, thought you would njoy as well!
Joey, we still love and miss you, RIP XXX |
Happy Easter/ Passover/ Ostara to all my lovelies!

DeleteFrigging awesome!!! Powerful and agressive and totally ROCKING! G adores the Ramones, they're one of his fave ever bands. And I love them too, one of their songs will stay in my head for days! XXX
ReplyDeleteYou hit it on the head! Something v. cool is that ALL babies love the Ramones, so even the innocents have great taste! I knew G would enjoy this, I mean what's not to love right? I'm constantly singing (very off-key) the Ramones, they make me happy and energized! Have a lovely holiday weekend! XXX
DeleteYay, Ramones! Ooh, please let us know how the MP Pastel-izer works for you. :D I've been diluting mine with conditioner to achieve the pastels; just seems to wash out more quickly that way. Love my MP. I need to get the nerve to do the whole head next. :)
ReplyDeleteSO happy to find a kindred spirit in Blogland. :D
Sara, you bet I'll give a full review, dying to try it! Try not to wash your hair as much, the color will "set" better a little more each time you add more. They have loads of tips on their site too: www.manicpanic.com. Yes the Ramones rule, glad you enjoyed the video! So nice to meet another kindred spirit on my end too! I'll have to check out your blog. Oh and DO IT, more Manic Panic makes the world a happier place! XXX
DeleteRamones rock!
ReplyDeleteOooo yes you have to show off your nicely vivid pink hair.
Besos
They sure did! Oops I totally forgot I wrote about the hair dye and Pastel-izer already. Hmm I plead dealing with hell the past few weeks for the memory loss. Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! XXX
