Sunglasses Vintage and New

I finally got around to unearthing my vintage sunglass collection and thought it might be nice to show them here. Most I've had since the late 70s to mid 80s and I stupidly used to sell brand new unused vintage sunglasses to flea market vendors -- oh how I wish I had them now! I also included a few of my fav pairs of newer sunglasses as I wear them so much (don't trust the UV protection on the really old ones.)


Here's a group shot, I'll break down my favs into smaller pics.


These are probably my favorite because they belonged to my grandfather who died when I was just 4. They're "Cool Ray Polaroid" in a classic wayfarer style, tortoise frame. I don't wear them as often as I'd like out of paranoia -- today I realised in about 2 years they will be certified antiques!


Look at the fab carving and crystals on these 60s French sunglasses! Tres jolie!


The colour isn't showing up properly but these are purple metallic wayfarers from the 60s!


I can't believe I never wore these fab 70s shades! That's going to be rectified immediately!


These 50s sunglasses have fab light blue glitter along the top!


Here's another pair I never wore (what's wrong with me?) they still have their tags and are French made, from the 50s. Can't you just imagine someone like Brigitte Bardot wearing these on the French riviera?


These are vintage YSL cat eye sunglasses I found on eBay last year. You can still find them as the seller in Canada has a stockpile of them, and I might even wind up with another pair as I wore them to death last summer!


Newer acquisitions -- on the bottom are Alexander McQueens purchased last year, and the top are some Gucci shades I adore for hiding my cheekbones which have gotten sun damaged from sticking out ):


These are some older Gucci shades, I love them as the quality is amazing and they last forever!


How fab are these 50s huge cat eyes? Love them!


No vintage collection is complete without some crazy hippie half shades!

These 50s shades were my favs for years. Also French made, and I had them in a gorgeous blue too. Sadly the lenses are too scratched for wear now ):

YSL Ankle Strap Amaziness! Mine All Mine!

I fell in love with these YSL shoes somewhere around late Summer/ early Autumn. But didn't have the $ to pay full price. So I stalked. And kept stalking everywhere looking for a sale. Finally the Black Friday sales came up, but they were still out of reach. Suddenly on Xmas eve, I got an email from Saks saying further reductions had been made. I quickly clicked and found them in my size (praying they fit!) and got them for a song. Seriously, I've paid the same price at Top Shop for a pair, and these are YSL's! So they became a last minute gift from my husband! My only worry is that they say they run small and to size up half a size, so I hope this is true! I'm waiting with bated breath for them to arrive...

I love the brick colour, and the heel shape with the addition of the ankle strap give such a great silhouette on your legs making them look miles long! (I tried some on at Saks that were waaay too big but still gave a good idea of how they'll look.)

Jessica Simpson "Dany" Sandals Update

Yesterday when I got home after picking the PGP up at school, I found a box on my front porch. My sandals had arrived! I honestly didn't expect them this soon, as I had only gotten the shipping notice yesterday and the tracking information was coming up with nothing. So I was hugely surprised.

Of course I had to rip open the box and put them on immediately. They are super comfortable, but I will warn those of you not used to wearing heels this high that these are seriously high. I have no trouble walking in them, even up and down stairs, but I'm rarely out of very high heels so I'm very used to the difference of walking in super high vs. average heels.

They appear to be fairly well made, although the "wood" is actually some kind of plastic (I think, definitely synthetic), however this makes them more lightweight on your feet rather than the heaviness of a wood heel so I'm not really bothered.



This picture was taken just before we got hit with terrible rainstorms hence my hair is starting to explode with the humidity! Also excuse the hideously enormous jeans. They are so giant that I just pull them on and off, and are my housework jeans. Its odd to see myself in something that adds pounds due to the bulk, but I was entirely too lazy to change!

Also wearing my vintage dead stock YSL cat eye sunglasses I found on eBay a few months ago. After getting the McQueen sunglasses that were a slight cat eye, I had pulled out some vintage ones and realized how much I loved them. However most of my vintage sunglasses have very scratched lenses, so I searched for a new pair and came across these. I highly recommend the seller if you are interested in getting a pair for yourself, they arrived in just a few days and came with the case and the original box as well.

Also while looking for something completely different, last night I came across a leopard version of these shoes made by Jeffrey Campbell called "Foxy" and available here. More expensive than these, but if you're a fan of leopard, they are quite cute!

New Year's "Yves"

Sorry for the terrible pun, how could I resist?

My YSL shoes arrived on the 30th and wanted to be worn immediately, however the weather didn't comply. So I wore them on New Year's Eve instead. The dress was picked up on the 29th when my friend Barbara & her daughter, the PG Princess, PG Husband, and I ventured to Manic Panic HQ so the girls could have fun buying dye and makeup. There just happened to be a sample sale clear-out of another friend and well we all came away with some great goodies along with our Manic Panic stash which I'll do a post about later this week.

Yes, more leopard. I'll never get enough of it! The dress is great, has chains for straps that connect with wee handcuffs and teeny little studs around the hem, armholes and neckline! Still needs a bit of taking in, but it was good enough as is for a house party. You can almost make out my Wendy Brandes swear rings on my right hand. I wear them nearly every day!

Voila! They are a slightly darker, more brick colour. So comfy too!

Slightly better photo showing my antique bat pin worn as a necklace. I also had piled my hair into a messy top knot which included a black hair strip. I pulled some strands out and had them hanging off to the side. (Oh dear, you can really notice the few glasses of champagne when looking at my eyes!)

They'll also be worn tomorrow night to a semi-formal function we are to attend. I'll try to get more shots... I just love them and my Clinics (thanks to Queen Michelle!) both so very comfy and have great style!
