Ramones on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert

A little (well long) something for the weekend, for all of you Ramones lovers ...

For those of you too young to have seen the Ramones live, this is the closest representation I've found thus far of what it was like to be at a Ramones show. You were just blasted with song after song, no time to take a breath between dancing your ass off and having the time of your life! Its a bit long, so watch when you're bored, you'll be bopping around in no time!

This had to have been filmed a bit later, as I recall seeing them in the early CBGB days, they would just stop and start fighting over something on stage, then get back to it. Pretty funny actually!

BTW, this was filmed for Don Kirchner's Rock Concert, a series of concerts every week where he would introduce new acts, as well as feature more established bands. Happy times watching and developing a taste for the varied music of the 70s before I was too young to hit the clubs (okay I started sneaking in very early, so we're talking real young.) We got exposed to so much fantastic music, definitely helping to shape my snobbish (I prefer highly honed) musical tastes today!

Thursday we were in the city for a lovely late lunch with a dear friend and then went out to stock up on hair dye. More pink for me to play with, a lovely new shade called "Cleo Rose" (who is actually someone we know (a total character who was in the entrtainmnt biz in the 60s.) Manic Panic now makes a new one called Manic Mixer/Pastel-izer, so you can make any of their colours into pastel shades. I was told the designer Chris Benz and I are the first to have it in our grubby little hands, so of course I will be playing with it this weekend! While there, I noticed this fantastic poster of Joey that since I was planning on posting this piece this weekend, thought you would njoy as well!

Joey, we still love and miss you, RIP XXX

Happy Easter/ Passover/ Ostara to all my lovelies!

New York City Joey Ramone + Holiday Pics

Since the new year started, I've been up to no good, sick with flu, and as a result of that now feeling the winter blahs. So I thought I would share some cheery pics taken in early December when a dear friend from London was visiting. (Come back soon Caroline!)

The Angels leading to Rockefeller Ctr. with the famous tree in the distance.
My friend Caroline from London and I with the tree at Rock Ctr. in the distance.
One of the windows at Saks, it was crazy with tourists so we didn't do the long line to see everything.
The gorgeous Caroline in front of Saks.
One of the few touristy pics of me, in Times Square.

BTW, Caroline is a licensed homeopathist in London, with a thriving practice. She also does consultations worldwide, so if you're interested in her services, please feel free to contact me and I'll put you in touch.

And because I'm feeling nostalgic, my friends are in this video, it mentions clubs I worked and hung out at, shows old haunts, starts and ends with Joey's brother Mickey Leigh (author with Legs McNeil of "I Slept With Joey Ramone"), with the plus that you get a fun tour of NYC (watch it twice, second time focus on the background scenery), I'm leaving you with Joey Ramone singing New York City. (If only he were still here...) Yeah I know a lot of Ramones lately, but screw it, its my blog and I'll do what I want! Plus the Ramones are almost like Looney Tunes; you can find something to correlate with just about any event in your life. (Think about it... well I guess my "older" -- only in number, ye gods I hate that -- readers may get this reference as I don't think they show the original Looney Tunes too often, plus they'll be more familiar with the body of work of the Ramones. I dare you to try it!)

I hope you are all having a great start to the new year!
