New York City Joey Ramone + Holiday Pics

Since the new year started, I've been up to no good, sick with flu, and as a result of that now feeling the winter blahs. So I thought I would share some cheery pics taken in early December when a dear friend from London was visiting. (Come back soon Caroline!)

(If only he were still here...) Yeah I know a lot of Ramones lately, but screw it, its my blog and I'll do what I want! Plus the Ramones are almost like Looney Tunes; you can find something to correlate with just about any event in your life. (Think about it... well I guess my "older" -- only in number, ye gods I hate that -- readers may get this reference as I don't think they show the original Looney Tunes too often, plus they'll be more familiar with the body of work of the Ramones. I dare you to try it!)

Happy 2013 and Resolutions

Another year has come and gone, remarkable how the time goes by so quickly I feel like it was just summer and now there is a load of snow on the ground! It's been lovely meeting some new blogland friends, as well as keeping in touch with with old ones, and my real life friends. My friends are important to me and I'm blessed to have the cream of the crop!

Back on the 1 Jan 2010 I wrote my feelings about resolutions. Rather than repeat myself you can read them here. I still do the same thing, living very serendipitously (makes things so much more fun, and brings the most amazing things in your life!) Sure I plan, but I do allow the "happy accidents" to flow, even if they don't seem so happy at the time (although usually wind up being just what I needed.)

This year I have an actual resolution. Yep. Silly but its one I've already started working on. I've always loved languages, pick them up easily (though can't always pull the correct words out when I need them). I also swear worse than anyone. I call it freedom of speech (; And over the years I've learned to swear in over a dozen languages. I plan to at least double that this year.

So if you speak a language other than english, and would like to share some good cuss words with me, please do! I guess phonetically would be best, since online I can't hear your accent and inflections. You can either post here, if you follow me on FB there, or send me a private email so you don't "out" yourself as a toilet mouth like me!

Now a little something for all my friends both in real life and online. You're all so important to me even though I sometimes get tangled up and forget to say it.

Okay sounds a little depressing, but he is saying how he'll stick by his friends no matter what. Which is what I do. You have to be pretty toxic for me to remove you from my life as a friend! There is also this lovely bit:

Many of us have had to go through too much heartache due to recent disasters, and I thought this was appropriate as to me its a song of hope, real friendship, and love.

Happy Holidays and a New Addition to our Home

One of very few holiday songs I can stomach, plus its got friends in it! (Thanks Jeanne for the reminder!)

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of adopting a young cat from a very generous and caring woman who had rescued her as well as four others left in a carrier on a sidewalk in Brooklyn. I haven't been able to get another kitty as my Jezebel was my first little girl that was with me for 21.5 years. Every time I tried something would come up (usually something disastrous that would force our hand to wait.) Well when I saw this little girls face, a grin broke out and tears rolled down my face. I knew she was ours. It was as if Jezebel finally said it was okay and sent a little angel that looks very much like her. We named her Calliope (muse of poetry) and she is having a blast adjusting to her new home and companion, our dog Fiona. They even kissed noses one day, so my worries about fights was unfounded (though Fiona is very social so I actually wasn't too worried.) Since she was a rescue we have no idea if or how much socialization she's had, and she does still tend to be a bit skittish but is getting better every day -- so much so that she now climbs into bed with us. She's a joy, and we love our little angel. Her crate-mate was a lovely ginger tom that sadly had to be put down this week after getting either into rat poison or eating a mouse that was poisoned. I had hoped to spread the word so that he too could get adopted, but sadly the little angel is gone.

Calliope. She looks very much like Jezebel, only Jez had green eyes and Calliope has gold eyes that kind of match her ginger patches! Sweet little girl, we're very lucky to have adopted her from someone so kind. (Never mind the cat hair laden carpet, I was too lazy!)

Happy Birthday to the Punk Glam Princess and a new friend!

Today is the Teen Ghoul aka Gwensday Addams' 13th birthday. No longer my little girl (although she will always be mum's little girl!) Mum is now officially a feeb (typical) even though I understand all the "new" music she listens to and even teach her a thing or two about the origins! No matter what she's our girl, and as I've always told her, she's our "prettiest star" (along with being both a super genius and a super genius creative -- yes I cover all bases!)

My new FB  friend  Dub Trance shares the day with the Punk Glam Princess so this goes out to both of them (what's better than My Little Pony?) Such a doll from what I've learned thus far, and they both deserve respect from the world that all too often makes things entirely too rough on those who think"outside the box". All my friends deserve respect for all we've lived though and triumphed over and I do hope this makes this easier for my "prettiest star" and all those who fall into that category. May you all get the respect you deserve!

12/12/12 is a very magickal day, and may all of you born on this day have all your fondest wishes come true in the coming year! Yeah I went a little overboard, but hey 13 is  BIGGIE! And I think we should  all get a little teenage fun today!

Concert Benefit for Frankie’s Friends Charitable Pet Foundation

Tuesday, December 4, 7PM-11PM

The inaugural "Halos and Heartbeats" benefit for Frankie's Friends Charitable Pet Foundation taking place at The Cutting Room on Tuesday December 4, 7-11p, is a fantastic holiday event including music and fashion not to be missed!

Musical headliners are Emmylou Harris and Steve Earle. The event will also showcase Blue Coupe, Joe Hurley, Eddie Brill (current warm-up comedian for David Letterman), Michael Musto, Murray Weinstock, and other surprise appearances.

A celebrity silent auction will include priceless items such as an autographed guitar by Joan Jett, and signed dog collars by Betty White and Todd Oldham.

The event will benefit Frankie’s Friends, a non-profit foundation dedicated to helping save pets when their families cannot afford life-saving veterinary care.

Tickets are $100 for seating, $65 for standing room only. Tickets available at ticketfly.com.

ABOUT Frankie’s Friends
Frankie’s Friends is a 501(c)(3), non-profit foundation dedicated to finding cures and saving pets with cancer and other life-threatening illness and injuries. The foundation was started in 1998 by veterinarian Neil Shaw who found that few alternatives exist for the large number of pets from loving and responsible families who simply are unable to pay fully for an unexpected illness. Based on each individual case, families always provide some contribution of funds for their pets’ care. Funds raised through Halos & Heartbeats will assist families who demonstrate substantial financial need and whose pets have a good prognosis for recovery to a normal quality of life for a reasonable period of time. In the NYC metropolitan area, pets being assisted by Frankie’s Friends are treated at BluePearl Veterinary Partner in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.
